Flora and fauna
Tenerife is a home to a surprising ecological diversity and that’s because of it’s topography which makes the vegetation change radically in areas that are barely a few hundred metres apart. This is because of the difference in altitude and the microclimates the relief creates, giving rise to six different ecosystems. Therefore, you will find magnificent specimens of tabaibas and Canary Island spurge on the coast resembling an exotic desert with an arid climate, whilst the vegetation in the highlands is more typically Mediterranean: shrubs, thermophilic forests and vast expanses of pine trees. You will find yourself walking through junipers, olive bushes, palm trees and even the odd dragon tree, one of the Canary Islands' great symbols.
The group of mammals is represented by 13 species, mostly introduced by man. The arrival of the aborigines around 2,500 years ago brought sheep, goats, dogs and pigs into the archipelago. They adapted so well that in the Canary Islands there are autochthonous breeds of these animals. The rabbit, the rats, the shrew and the Moorish hedgehog were also introduced. As for the reptiles, in Tenerife it is possible to find many and worthy of observing them carefully, because some are not found anywhere else. There are five species on the island, of which the spotted lizard is endemic to Tenerife.
Tenerife is also one of the only places in Europe that is a shelter for marine turtles. Out of 7 species of marine turtles that exist in the world, we can find 6 of them in the Canary islands. There are also 6 species of dolphins in the Canary Islands. These friendly and curious animals very often swim close to the boats and feel totally not shy to demonstrate how gracious they are jumping out of the water.
Some birds like herons or ducks, pass through the island looking for good weather on their migratory trips. Others, such as the turquoise pigeon, the rabiche and the blue finch are unique species on the planet that live permanently in the Canary Islands. On the coast, the gray shearwater or the osprey also delight fans of bird watching, an activity regulated by the granting of permits in certain areas.

Social ecosystem
The accommodation is located in Costa San Miguel. It is a diverse location that has: water activities, golf courses, scenic hikes, multiple bars, and restaurants with nightly entertainment and shops. Everything you need is all in one place, making it easier to use your lunch break as an opportunity to explore while staying close by. It’s possible to go for a quick snorkel or scuba dive and discover coves and natural pools or for a bite to eat at a restaurant overlooking the marina, all before heading back to work.
The picturesque neighborhood of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is marked by, for example, the town of El Guincho. The traditional cottages make their way through lush native plant life against the backdrop of the vast Atlantic Ocean. One of the highlights is also El Guincho Lookout, where you can appreciate a panoramic view of the entire municipality.
A good example of the real Tenerife is a nearby cosy village called Los Abrigos filled with colourful fishing boats bob on the waters of a charming little harbour. A far cry from the neon lights and party atmosphere’s of major tourist hang outs it is a hidden gem of the island.
