Located on the riverbed of the Turia, the City of Arts and Sciences is the largest cultural and scientific complex to date in Europe. It is one of the newest neighbourhoods in the city of Valencia.It is one of the neighbourhoods that make up the Quatre Carreres district, in the southeast of Valencia. Its boundaries are, to the northeast, the Old Riverbed of the Turia; to the south, the Saler motorway and Avenida del Actor Antonio Ferrandis; and, to the northwest, Avenida del Alcalde Gisbert Rico, among other streets. The neighbourhood takes its name from the architectural complex inaugurated in 1998 and known in Spanish as the City of Arts and Sciences, a work of architects Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, which houses various buildings including the Hemisfèric (a three-dimensional cinema), the Príncipe Felipe Museum of Science, the Oceanográfico and the Reina Sofía Palace of Arts, among others. The Saler motorway (CV-500) provides easy access to the area by car. There is also good bus communication.
