Carrer de Múrcia, 62, 08027 Barcelona, Spain
The Clot neighbourhood in Barcelona is one of those places that, no matter how many years pass, still maintains its original charm. It is true that each neighbourhood in Barcelona has its own particular charm that sets it apart from the rest. This neighbourhood is one of the areas with the most history in the city, as there is evidence of El Clot de Barcelona since medieval times, under the name of Clotum Melis. The Acequia Condal, which gives its name to the street of the same name, meant that many orchards and agricultural farms were placed in that area, a rural fact that continued well into the 19th century, when Barcelona became more urbanised. It was during that time that flour mills were installed, such as the one that gives its name and space to the civic centre known as La Farinera. Thus, little by little, the neighbourhood ended up being configured as we know it today. The railway and the train are key elements of the neighbourhood, as the first line that went to France and later the one that went to Zaragoza passed through that area. Finally, these roads were replaced by the Meridiana, which divided the neighborhood into two and encouraged its growth.
