Malasaña neighbourhoodThe neighbourhood owes its name to the young Manuela Malasaña, who participated in the defence of the current Plaza del 2 de Mayo, during Napoleon's invasion of Spain. Malasaña was taken prisoner and executed on the charge that scissors, considered a weapon, were found in her possession. She was buried in the Hospital de la Buena Dicha on Silva Street.
